The Greatest

One of the Greatest Singers has just passed away.
Not without Controversy as usual.

I asked my Elder Boy why he thought the Great Singer died.
He replied, "heart attack?"

I : Assuming it's the heart attack, what had caused it?
H: He took drugs?

I : Assuming he'd taken drugs, why?
H: He was NOT happy?

I : Assuming he's NOT happy, why?
H : His parents did NOT spend enough time with him?

So, my Elder Boy has understood the Root Cause of Every Problem,
We as parents have NOT spent Enough Time AND Happy Time with our children.

So, some Unhappy children grow up as Unhappy adults.
And these Unhappy adults spend years after years Struggling.
Socially. Mentally. Emotionally........
Even after they've become Rich and Famous.

Look at the Drinking Problem of the US Pop Princess, Britney Spear.
Look at the Drug Problem of the UK Pop Prince, Robbie Williams.

Their Emptiness is Bigger than the Black Hole.
Because they've NOT got the Greatest thing, also the Most Valuable/Important thing in Life,
Love.

That's why I make myself available everytime my boys want to show me their drawing.
Everytime they want to show their lego creation.
Everytime they want to share with me their self-made joke!

Future

For the last few days, my boys were really excited by the Masterchef TV programme.

The candidates were competing in.....................

Hong Kong!

So, my boys were excited again to see all these Lion Dancing, the Noisy (& dirty) Market, the Roasted Duck etc.

The Familiar Places, the Familiar Food and the Familiar Culture.

So, my boys then suggested to us we should have more Chinese Food.
So, we would be making Roasted Duck, Dumplings, Chicken with Chinese Mushroom........
And we'd our own "Yam Chai" at home yesterday with all these "Siu Ma", Spring Roll" etc.

Yes, from the Frozen Pre-packed Dim Sum!
Better than None!

I took the Opportunity to remind our boys of the four things that Chinese are good at,

- Chinese Cooking

- Chinese Feng Shui

- Chinese Martial Art

- Chinese Medicine

If they're good at anyone of the above, they would be in a Much Better Position to........

make some new friends!
And possibly to make a Good Living.

But, most importantly, I would like to remind them,

If one does NOT know where they're from,
They would NOT know where they're going.

Peace

Went to Aussie World (www.aussieworld.com.au) on Wednesday.

Amused to see so.......................few people.

Might be because our boys left the school a week earlier.
So, while plenty of others still learning at schools, our boys playing in fun park!!

We made a Few History thereat.

There was NO queue in any game we played.
We're the only four sitting inside the Stimulator (I was the ONLY one Screaming!)
We're the only ones playing the Dodgems.
My boys were the only two driving the Bizzy Bigges!

For a few moments, we thought it was our Private Fun Park!

We're at HK Disneyland, Gold Coast Dreamworld recently.
A Minimum Wait of 30-45 minutes was required for each game.
So, it was a Luxury in the Aussie World.
So Much Time in hand.
So Less people.
So Relaxing.

I never thought that I could find Some Peace in a Fun Park.
And I could even find Some Time to read a book while our boys were playing.

An Environment has, once again, proved it has Tremendous Effects on people.
And this visit has, once again, reminded me I was Right to change school for our boys.

Learning

Has been Exceptionally Busy lately.

Because our April's Plan of "Travel Around the World" has to be dropped.
The Swine Flu Outbreak came.

Came so Fast, hitting every country/territory we intend to visit so Hard.
And then came the Phase 6 - Pandemic.
We've to change our plan - stay in Australia for the next 16 weeks!

Even though Victoria State is actually More Dangerous.
It has More Confirmed cases than Mexcio & USA!!
( 1 case in 9,100 people > 1 in 22,000 > 1 in 27,000!)

Then, our boys attended the Last day of their current school two days ago.
And, we just instructed another agent to sell our home.

Everything just happened, happened so Fast and happened at the Same time.

Just like our children.
They grow so Fast.

And the Question I always have on the back of my mind,
"Could my academically quite sound boys know how to deal with Real Life Situation?"

About a week ago, we went to a local shopping centre for some grocery shopping.
When leaving the centre, there were two teenage girls sitting on a bench about 5 metres from us.
One of the girls, asking me politely from a distance,
"How you got some spare coins, please? We're trying to get a bus."

I told them the truth,
"Sorry, I've NO spare coins."

And her response?

She became nasty and then stated,
"You, AsXXXe!!"

When returning home, I asked my elder boy,
"Why do you think that girl had asked me for money?"

"Because she's no money?"

"Yes, why do you think she's no money?" I continued.

"Because she does NOT have a job?"

"Yes, why do you think she has no job?" I asked again.

"Because she did not do well at school?"

"Yes, my boy. That's what I've been telling you, try your best at school.
It's your responsibility to learn as much as you can at your age.
Or one day, you're to end up like them - NOT having the Skill to get a decent job.
Then, Begging or Threatening others for money.
Money that you should have worked hard for and in the Right Way."

"And what else have you learnt from the incident?"
I asked my elder boy the final question.

m..m.....

"My boy, there are many many people in this world appearing to be Nice to you.
Because some of them want Something from you.
And if they subsequently find out they could not get that Something from you,
they'll become Very Nasty - just like the girl we met earlier "

Masterchef

A UK report has once found children will suffer adverse effects if them watching TV OVER a "certain period of time"

Have a Guess on that time?

2 hours!!!

I wish I had such a Luxury (2-hour FREE time) every day!

My boys, however, are really enjoying in watching a new TV show, Masterchef.
www.masterchef.com.au

A programme that aims to find the NEXT Great Chef from a pool of selected candidates.
They'll be tested on skills in cooking, innovation, time management, leadership etc.
And they'll be eliminated one by one until the Master has been found!

My boys are now even more interested in cooking.
And our Elder Boy has often asked me to give him "4 Ingredients".
So that he can quickly come up with an Idea for a New Dish!
And he has even tried to cook us one/two small dishes!

And we also ask our boys who they think will be eliminated and, more importantly, why.
This show has allowed us to teach our boys something important, which they cannot learn in the classroom.

So, who say TV is Bad?
Who say Money is Bad?

It's NOT the thing Itself.
But how the thing is Being Used.
